Mr. Green's Class

Hello, I'm Mr. Green!

My name is Michael Green and I am very excited to be your child’s second grade teacher! I grew up in Wallingford many years ago and went to Highland School on the other side of town. My family moved to Cheshire when I was going into 5th grade. After my 8th grade graduation at Dodd Middle School, my family moved to Vero Beach, Florida, so I attended high school there. I went to college in Orlando, Florida, and moved back to Connecticut when I graduated. Now, I get to teach alongside some of my former teachers!

Meet My Family

I now live in Berlin with my wife and three children. We have a daughter in Kindergarten, a son in Pre-K, and a newborn baby girl. My students get to hear all about my kids throughout the year, and they may come home with some funny stories! In my very little spare time, (besides being Daddy, of course!) I enjoy home DIY projects, cooking, and traveling! We travel to Ogunquit, Maine and Myrtle Beach, South Carolina every year. My favorite trip so far was in 2019, when my wife and I drove halfway around Ireland’s coast (driving on the "wrong" side of the car and "wrong" side of the road)! We started in Dublin, then drove to Kinsale, Killarney, and Galway. We explored each city for a few days before flying to Frankfurt, Germany and exploring there.

Here's Why I Teach..

I have been teaching in Wallingford Public Schools since 2013, and have been in the education profession since 2011! After graduating from UCF, I spent a couple of years in business and finance. It felt nice to have a job, be good at what I was doing, and earn a paycheck. But something big was missing.. I wasn't passionate about my job. I decided to take a risk. I left my job, and followed my dream of teaching, which brought me to Quinnipiac University.

When I graduated and earned my teaching certificate, I knew I had to teach in Wallingford, the same district where I was once a student. As a child, there were a few Wallingford teachers that made a huge positive impact on my life, and I have since had the chance to work with them and thank them. Now, I pay it forward every year with a new group of students.

My top priority each school year is to foster a safe, engaging learning environment where every student feels seen, heard, and valued as part of our learning community. Every child has individual interests, needs, and goals and I am dedicated to your child’s individual success! I look forward to getting to know your little learner and the support system that surrounds them. See you soon!
